Time lapse movie showing several sequences of mitosis in pollen mother cells of the Easter Lily recorded in 1951 on 16 mm film with an early polarizing microscope developed by Shinya Inoue. The work was instrumental in proving the in vivo reality of the mitotic spindle. The action is sped up by a factor of about 450x.
