High resolution of a daughter micronucleus in anaphase of a dividing cell of Didinium nasutum. The chromosomes are compacted into one large heterochromatic body. Remnants of the mitotic division spindle remain inside the intact nuclear envelope. Nuclear envelopes remain intact in ciliates during division in both the micronucleus and macronucleus. Mitochondrion, peroxisome, dictyosomes of Golgi complex, and rough endoplasmic reticulum are evident. TEM taken on 5/19/69 by R. Allen with Philips 300 operating at 60kV. Neg. 14,800X. The raw film was scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED. Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness. Additional information available at (http://www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu/allen/).
