The movie is the rotation of a maximum projection of a structured illumination image (SIM) of microtubules in a Drosophila S2 cell. SIM provides a two-fold increase in spatial resolution compared to the diffraction limited image. Images were collected as part of the Marine Biological Laboratory Neurobiology Course, Summer 2011. Images were collected on a Zeiss Elyra Super-resolution microscope by Chris Rieken.
Cells were plated on Con-A coated coverslips, chemically fixed, and labeled with an anti-tubulin primary antibody and an Alexa Fluor 488 secondary antibody.
