Description

Tomograms of specifically labeled connexin 43 (Cx43) gap junctions expressed in HEK293T. Cx43 was genetically tagged with GPF and APEX, an engineered plant peroxidase that reacts with hydrogen peroxide and diaminobenzidine to create a protein specific stain. Sections are cut perpendicular to the membrane plane (cross-section view).
