Description

Electron micrograph of a thin section through a portion of the chloroplast of the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas. Free ribosomes are seen as dark particles within the chloroplast stroma. The image is of remarkably high quality considering the recording date in 1966 before the development of current fixation techniques.

Technical Details

Image recorded on 10/21/66 at a magnification of 116,000x. Original 3.25 in. x 4 in. lantern slides were scanned at 600dpi.
