Description

Zebrafish at the 3-somite stage. A dorsal view of the embryo, focused first at the level of the hypoblast. The notochord is centrally located. The first three frames of the sequence are at the same time point. Each frame moves more dorsally through the embryo until the level of the neural plate is reached. During the sequence, the neural ectoderm converges in a mediolateral fashion towards the embryonic midline. The convergence transforms the neural plate into the neural keel. Cellular divisions can be observed within the neuroectoderm during the sequence. This video made available by Mark Cooper thru Zebrafish - The Living Laboratory. The videos in this group can also be found in the Developmental Landmarks page of the Fishscope web site.
