Description

A post ciliary microtubular ribbon extends from the proximal left side of the basal body and arches toward the cell surface where it ends near the longitudinal microtubular ribbon at the crest of the pellicular ridge. TEM taken on 8/6/65 by R. Allen on RCA EMU3F operating at 50kV. Neg. 18,400X. Bar = 0.2µm. The negative was printed to paper and the image was scanned to Photoshop. Technical Details

Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness. Additional information available at (http://www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu/allen/).
