Description

Figure 416 from Chapter 16 (Cytoplasmic matrix and cytoskeleton) of 'The Cell, 2nd Ed.' by Don W. Fawcett M.D. The marginal band of an erythrocyte from the toadfish Opsanus Tau contains a circumferential bundle of microtubules (inset panel, arrows) which may contribute to the elliptical shape of the cell. From Fawcett and Witebesky, J. Zellforsch. 62:785-806, 1964 (PMID:14232745). A PDF copy of the accompanying chapter is available on the ASCB’s BioEDUCATE website.
