Description

Preparation of the live ciliate Tetrahymena pyriformis stained with a mitochondria-specific probe (Mitotracker green) and viewed with the CSU-10 confocal microscope. The mitochondria become visible as they swim through the confocal plane of focus. Non-confocal background light was superimposed by backlighting through the condenser to make the whole organism visible.
