Description

The time lapse movie shows mitosis in a cell of the liquid endosperm of the African Blood Lily Haemanthus katherinae observed with phase contrast. The movie begins at prophase and proceeds through metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cell plate formation. The process is speeded up about 300-fold.

Technical Details

The movie was recorded on 16 mm film in 1956 by A.S. Bajer and J. Mole-Bajer and later transferred to video. See, S. Inoue and R. Oldenbourg, 1998. Mol Biol Cell 9:1603-1607.
